Gangtey Trek

Gangtey trek is a short trekking trail lies in the mountains east of Wangdeuphodrang of Bhutan. The trek through Phobjikha valley elevation having 3030m. Gangety trek offers to see a rare and beautiful monasteries and villages including Taktsang Monastery and fantastic Punakha Dzong. The trail route passes through meadows, Juniper forest, magnolia and Rhododendrons in full bloom in April. Gangtey trek is also famous as one of the finest low level treks in Bhutan.

  • Day 5 : Gangtey – Gogona (6-7hrs)

  • Day 7 : Khotokha - Chazam – Wangdue
  • Day 8 : Wangduephrodang – Thimphu
  • Day 9 : Thimphu – Paro
  • Day 10 : Final Departure

Detailed Itinerary

  • Day 1 : Arrive Bhutan by Druk Air
    Arrive at Paro airport, our representative will greet you, You will transfer to Hotel. Day time Visit Ta Dzong, one of the finest natural Museum in South Asia. Visit Rinpung Dzong which is in the same location as Ta Dzong- built in 1645 to defend the valley against Tibetan invaders. In the evening, walking around the city. Overnight at Paro.
  • Day 2 : Paro Sightseeing
    After breakfast, you visit the Taktsang Monastery a highlight of the trip. The visit requires a short walk. After lunch, make an afternoon sightseeing off- sights visited You will have a day sightseeing around Paro, sights visited Ta Dzong, Paro Rimpung Dzong, Kichu Lhakhang and Drukgyal Dzong. Overnight at Paro.
  • Day 3 : Paro to Thimp
    After breakfast you will drive to Thimpu which will take 2hrs, capital city without having any traffic Lights. On the way to Thimpu scenic view, mesmerizing mountains, Buddhist monasteries will welcomed. Enroute stop at Chuzom (confluence) where the Paro river joins the Thimphu river. Nearby Thimphu, visit Simtokha Dzong, the oldest fortress of the Kingdom which now houses the School for Buddhist studies. Then, visit Handicrafts Emporium, Textile and Folk Heritage Museum followed by visit local market. Overnight at Thimphu.
  • Day 4 : Thimphu - Gangtey Gompa
    After breakfast we drive through the picturesque valleys and mountain slopes and a tour to the Dochula-Pass to view Higher Himalayas. We explore the Punakha Valley, Wandgduerphrodang Dzong and Gangtey Gompay Monastery along the way. Exploring around the Phobjikha valley, famous for the Black Necked Cranes during winter. Overnight at tented camp.
  • Day 5 : Gangtey – Gogona (6-7hrs)
    Today our trail begins with a slow climb through the field and then ascend to Tsele, then the trail descends gradually through forest of Juniper, magnolia and Rhododendrons. After arriving Gogona village, we explore more about village life. Overnight at tented camp.
  • Day 6 : Gogona – Khotokha (7hrs)
    Today we continue our trail from Gegona Village gradually climbing up a gentle slope to Shobjula. Gradually, we descend down to the wide valley of Khotokha. Khotokha is a summer place of the people of Wangduerphrodang. Overnight at tented camp.
  • Day 7 : Khotokha - Chazam – Wangdue
    Walk for 3-4hrs and a short ascend lead us to Mulaila Pass at 9200ft. Trail goes through the ever changing vegetation to the Wangduephrodang bridge and here trek ends.
  • Day 8 : Wangduephrodang – Thimphu
    After a night in Wangdue we drive back to Thimpu. Excursion around capital of Last Shangri-La. Overnight at hotel.
  • Day 9 : Thimphu – Paro
    This day we are driving back to Paro in the afternoon with collecting wonderful memories of nature and culture. In the evening, walking around town and free time to buy souvenirs. Overnight at hotel.
  • Day 10 : Final Departure
    Our company representative will drop you in the airport at Paro for your next destination.
