Ghalegaun Trek

Home to the Gurungs, Ghale Gaun is the place to be if you want to experience the exquisite surroundings while learning about the local ethnic culture. It’s the perfect mix of nature and culture that is unique to Ghale Gaun. Ghalgaun is located in Lamjung district. To preserve the local cultural and natural heritage Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) is working as a wonderful model of sustainable tourism. This village offers perfect opportunity to get to know the locals with various home stay offers.

Ghalegaun is maninly Gurung settlements: they nestle amidst mountains, rivers, streams, waterfalls and green forests. Ancient cultural activities, sound smell of hospitality are another key point for Ghalegaun for underlining as a bucket list. With breathtaking views of the western Himalayan range including the stunning Machapuchare (Fish Tail) (6,693 m), Annapurna (8,091 m), Annapurna II (7,939 m), Annapurna IV (7,525 m), Lamjung Himal (6,932 m), Himchuli (6,747 m), it’s an experience not to be missed.

Detailed Itinerary

  • Day 1 : Arrival in Kathmandu
    Upon arrival at the international airport our representative will assist you and transfer to the Hotel through private vehicle. After refreshment you will have free time to explore the local street (for our assistance please let us knows). At late noon our representative will take you for a visit in office for further formalities and take you for welcome dinner at Nepali Restaurant.
  • Day 2 : Kathmnadu Sightessing
    After having breakfast at Hotel start to visit Kathmandu valley, this day you will be taken to Swayambhunath(monkey temple), and Boudhanath and Pashupatinath Temple with our local guide. Afternoon meeting with trekking guide, check the trekking gears. Overnight sleep at Hotel.
  • Day 3 : Drive to Besisahar
    After breakfast at Kathmandu, drive to Besisahar by Public bus. During the road trip we see scenery of green hills, landscapes and field with full of crops until reached Besisahar. Besisahar is also unknown as a gate way point to Annapurna Circuit Trek, one of the most popular trails in The Annapurna Region. Overnight at Guest House.
  • Day 4 : Besisahra to Khudi
    Today, trek starts and follow the way to Siddha Cave from Bimalanagar and explore the Cave. On the way we can tour Buddhist Monasteries and walk along the Marshyangadi and observe local lifestyle.
  • Day 5 : Trek from Khudi to Ghalegaun (2100m) 4 to 5 hours
    Today, we can explore the amazing views of sunrise and sunset. Mesmerizing views of Mt Annapurna and Manaslu ranges and river valley add another dimension to this trek. Ghalegaun is a tradition village situated in the lap of the Annapurna range. Here you offered in the depth experience of the culture of the Gurungs at their home stays and through cultural programs. This area is rich enough for its cultural and nature. Overngight at Home stay.
  • Day 6 : Explore Ghalegaun
    This day we have enough time to find out the heritage of Ghalegaun and its beauty. Naturally this area is enriched and home of several herbs including green pastures of grasslands and can be found medicinal herbs, Rhododendron Forest, various kinds of Himalayan Birds and wild life. Regarding from the cultural aspect, traditional culture is highly in practices around the village and one can be seen the Gurungs pilgrimage sites around the region including Chhyoling Gompa at Nassar Danda. Overnight at Homestay.
  • Day 7 : Trek from Ghalegaun to Bhujung Village
    Fresh up early in the morning and breakfast. Before leaving Ghalegaun, local people invite for farewell program and photo session. Trek continues from Ghlaegaun passing Ghan Pokhara, Bhujung School and scenic view of Medem river valley and water falls. Overnight at local home.
  • Day 8 : Trek from Bhujung Village to pasgaun
    Today, after breakfast trek begins half hours walk of Medem River and exploration of river valley. Next 3hours we walk through the Jungle and it’s a real adventure. We continue our trail until we reached at Pasgaun. Overnight Rest at local home.
  • Day 9 : Trek from Pasgaun to Pakhurikot
    After breakfast trek starts with viewing the local life style and natural beauties. We continue out trail until we reach Pakhurikot. We have enough time to take photos of surrounding in Pakhurikot. Dinner and rest at Local Home.
  • Day 10 : Trek from Pakuhikot to Begnas Villager
    Today along the way we cross Ghate Village, Jungle walk for Thumsikot. After 3 hours adventure treks from Thumsikot we step for Begnas Village. Overnight at Local home.
  • Day 11 : Hike to Begnas lake and drive to Pokhara
    Morning sightseeing and farewell program done in Begnas Village and our trail goes down for Begnas Lake. 1-2 hrs excursion and boating around Begnas Lake we drive back to Pokhara.
  • Day 12 : Drive/Fly back to Kathmandu
    This day, we are driving of flying back to Kathmandu. It the evening we will have a dinner together and share the wonderful experience of the trips. Overnight at Hotel.
  • Day 13 : Departure
    According to your flight schedule, our office representative will drop you at the international airport for your next destination.
