Glimpse of Illam
Illam, a small beautiful hill town, but untouched destinations for foreigners. For the local people are the most desirable traveler’s point. Illam located in the eastern region of Nepal and known as tea-producing town. It is a town with the pristine landscapes of the sloped tea garden and thick natural forest and the amazing gate way from city life for sunrise and sunset. The town is at an elevation of 140m to 3630 m above the sea level, best time to visit in between October to December or from February to April. Illam is considered as one of the richest districts in Nepal in terms of cultural diversity, natural landscapes, and the flourishing cash crops sector. The Brahmins and Chhetris are the dominant ethnic groups living in the area. During a stay in Illam, one can explore the beautiful tea garden around Fikkal and Kanyam.
Shree Aantu offers mesmerizing views of the sunrise and sunset over the eastern snow-capped mountains. The place situated at a distance of 3hr, drive from Illam Bazzar. Mai Pokhari is another interesting place to explore during our short hike. Mai Pokhari (2120m), a pristine lake surrounds by dense forests of fir, juniper, pine and a variety of flora and fauna is regarded as the sacred adobe of Goddess Bhagwati. The trip begins from Kathmandu to Bhadrapur by flight and will discover the hidden coast of eastern region gradually.
