They have maintained their cultural and spiritual heritage preserved for centuries. Bhutan, the last Shangri-La is the last paradise on the earth reflects ancient culture, religion, arts and architecture in its golden peaks in the background of deep green valley and hillside. Glimpse of the Last Shangri-La tour itinerary will discover the major areas of the country, including the isolated valley of Phobjikha. The valley is protected for the endangered Black Necked Cranes migrating to Bhutan every winter.

Detailed Itinerary

  • Day 1 : Arrival in Paro and drive to Thimpu
    Arrive at Paro airport, our representative will greet you, You will transfer to Hotel. Day time Visit Ta Dzong, one of the finest natural Museum in South Asia. Visit Rinpung Dzong which is in the same location as Ta Dzong- built in 1645 to defend the valley against Tibetan invaders. In the evening, walking around the city. Overnight in Thimpu.
  • Day 2 : Thimpu to Punakha
    After visiting National Library, Painting School and Traditional Medicine Institute in the morning and you will drive to Punakha. Punakha was the winter capital for over 300 years until the time of the second King. Punakha Dzong that dominates the whole area was built in 1637 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyel, and established the central monastic body with 600 monks. Overnight in Punakha
  • Day 3 : Punakha Sightseeing
    Morning drive to visit Punakha Dzong (fortress), which houses the most elaborated temple in the country. This is a fine example of Bhutanese rich Art and Architecture. Drive further up to visit the Souvenir Making Center for girls supported by Youth Development Fund. Interact with the students and back to the hotel for lunch.After lunch, an hour hike to the temple of Khamsum Yuley Lakhang or the temple of Chimi Lakhang, the temple of fertility associated with religious art of phallus.
  • Day 4 : Punakha to Phobjikha (3hrs)
    Today, drive to the isolated valley of Phobjikha. The valley is protected for the endangered Black Necked Cranes migrating to Bhutan every winter. The drive is very picturesque and worth every turn and climb. On arrival visit Gangtey Gompa, the only Ningmapa monastery, which is the largest in the western Bhutan. Phobjikha valley is a paradise for hikers and nature lovers. Later in the afternoon could go for a nice short hike in the valley.
  • Day 5 : Phobjikha to Paro
    Drive back to Paro. Overnight at hotel.
  • Day 6 : Day 06: Sightseeing around Paro
    Hike (1.5 hrs) to the spectacular view of the Taktshang Monastery (Tiger's Nest), perched on a rocky edge over a 900 m. Experience unforgettable views of Mt. Jhomolhari. For the local people it is a place of pilgrimage, but for a tourist, a hike up to the viewpoint opposite the monastery can be exhausting, thrilling and mystical. The legend has it that Guru Rimpoche is had flown to the site of monastery on the back of tigress from Tibet and meditated in the cave there for three months. Visit the historic ruins of the Drukgyal Dzong, built in 1647. On the way of returning you will visit Monastery Kyichu Lhakhang and built in the 7th century by the first King of Tibet, Songtsen Gampo to spread the Buddhist Dharma throughout Bhutan . Overnight in Paro.
  • Day 7 : Final Departure
    After breakfast drive to the airport for flight to onward destination.
