Island Peak Climbing

Island Peak (6,189 m) is also known as Imja Tse is a popular trekking peak in the Everest – Khumbu region of Nepal. This mountain was named ‘Island peak’ by a climbing team of Eric Shipton in the year 1952 AD. It was first attempted to climb by British group as a preparatory for climbing Mt. Everest in the year 1953 AD. Island Peak has so much to offer magnificent panorama of the immense Himalaya like Lhotse (8,501m.), Nuptse (7,879m.), and Lhotse Shar (8,383m.), and Makalu (8475m.), Lhotse Middle Peak (8,410m.) in the east, Amadablam and Baruntse in the south welcomes you as you reach the Imja Tse Peak. Likewise, you will also pass the infrequently used Kongma La Pass and Chola pass. The best season for Island Peak climbing is spring and autumn. No technical mountaineering experience is required, but you do need a high level of fitness and be ready to push your limits. This climb fulfills the dream of every beginner climber and professional climbers, who are up for some extreme and challenging climbing trips. Detailed Itinerary

  • Day 1 : Arrival at Kathmandu Airport
    Our company representative will greet you at Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport and transfer to your hotel. When you have had your time to settle in and freshen up after your long flight. After some refreshment you will invited for a visit to our office. At evening we will offer you for a welcome dinner at our own Restaurant.
  • Day 2 : A full day sightseeing tour of Kathmandu
    The very next morning, after breakfast you will be taken for a full day sightseeing tour around Kathmandu valley. You can visit center of pilgrimage Pashupatinath Temple and Swyambhunath, Boudhanath and Kathmandu Durbar Square a World Heritage site. On the journey back to the hotel, you can explore the local areas, gullies and lifestyle. After your dinner, you can perhaps take leisurely stroll through the famous streets like Thamel and Durbarmarg.
  • Day 3 : Flight to Lukla and trekking to Phakding (2652m)
    In the Early morning we flight from Kathmandu to Lukla via mountain flight of about 40 minute scenic flight. With clear weather we get fantastic views of the mountains, including Everest as we enter the deep gorge of the Dudh Kosi valley. After Breakfast in Lukla we begin our trek from Lukla following a gentle climb up the mountainside on the left bank of the Dudh Koshi River, where you witness the typical Nepal terrace culture, slate roofed houses and views on Kusum Kangaru (5 579 m). We then take an easy walk for about two hours to Phakding village for the overnight stop at the Lodge.
  • Day 4 : Trek to Namche Bazaar (3440m)5-6hr
    From Phakding the trail follows the Dudh Koshi valley north, meandering through the pines, crossing it twice by small suspension bridges before reaching the village of Monjo the entrance gate of the Sagarmatha National Park. Beginning with a slight climb to Jhorsalle, the trail passes waterfalls and other culturally and naturally occurring items of interest. Villages are interspersed with magnificent forests of Rhododendron, Magnolia and fir. Along the way to you will be rewarded with your first glimpse of Kusum Kangru (6369m) Thamserku (6608m), Everest (8848m) and Nuptse (7879 m). A steep climb up to the beautiful village of Namche bazaar (3440m) will afford you further spectacular views and a comfortable place to spend the second night of the trek.
  • Day 5 : Acclimatization day in Namche
    Rest day in Namche. Optional walk to the Sherwi Khangba Sherpa Culture Museum or dayhike to the Hotel Everest View in Khumjung village (3 700 m) and Khundi Hospital in Khundi Village, the first hospital build in the Khumbu Region by Sir Edmund Hillary and Himalayan Trust in 1966. Overnight at the lodge Namche Bazaar.
  • Day 6 : Trek to Tengboche (3867m) 5-6hr
    Next morning after breakfast We continue our trek with pleasant walk through the forest with a magnificent view of mountains. We follow a spectacular path that traverses around the hillside high above the Dudh Kosi River. The trail climbs past some water-powered prayer wheels and begins a sustained climb through a forest of tall, mature rhododendrons. The start of the Tengboche (3870m), the village is scattered across a wide, grassy saddle below a crescent-shaped ridge covered by scrub pines and firs. From the viewpoint at the top of the hill, there are awe-inspiring views of distinctive peaks like Amadablam (6856m), standing proud of the massif containing Everest (8848m), Nuptse (7861m), Lhotse (8501m) and inspiring views of Himalayan giants. We visit the Buddhist Monastery at Tengboche, the largest in Khumbu region. Overnight at Lodge
  • Day 7 : Trek to Dingboche (4360m) 5-6hr
    In the morning views of mountain and monasteries are spectacular in Tengboche. From Tengboche we start our journey toward the north and soon cross the Dudh Kosi River by way of a small suspension bridge which spans a deep chasm in the river valley. During the way of Dingboche The trail makes a gradual descent through scrub junipers and around Mani stones as it follows the hillside. The trail passes many Mani walls in deep rhododendron forests where crossing after the Imja khola, the trail climbs many carved Mani stones to Pangboche. Pangboche Gompa is the oldest in Khumbu; a visit will be well worth it. Overnight stay at Lodge.
  • Day 8 : Day trip to Chhukung (4710m)
    From Dingboche we move to Chhukung today. It is located unshakably beneath a huge rock wall that joins Nuptse with Lhotse. From here, you will also see magnificent views of Amadablam (6856 m.), almost surely, the most pictured peak in Nepal. Then we return back to Dingboche. Overnight at guesthouse.
  • Day 9 : Trek from Chhukung to Island base camp
    We then walk by the side of the Imja River to reach Pareshaya Gyab, a pleasant spot by a tiny lake with a very well sight of the Nuptse-Lhotse wall and Lhotse Glacier. Once we arrange our camp, we can then geared with our climbing stuffs and get ready for your way up to the peak by tomorrow. Overnight at tented camp.
  • Day 10 : Acclimatization day at Island Peak Base Camp
    Today, we spend a day in base camp adjusting with cold moment. We just hike up today around camp for preparing us for the 6000meter. Stay overnight at tented camp.
  • Day 11 : Trek to Summit of Island Peak (6187m) and returning back to Chhukung
    Finally, today is our main day to climb up Island Peak. If we have good weather, we start trek early in the morning and climb up Island Peak. After camp 1, we ascend through a gully and traverse to the right. After making our way up a wide stone field, we cross the ridge to the glacier and crevasses. We slowly go direct to Chhukung. Overnight at tented Camp.
  • Day 12 : Trek from Chhukung to Tenboche
    Today we follow the way to Tenbouche through Dengboche. Overnight at guesthouse.
  • Day 13 : Trek from Tenboche to Namce Bazaar.
    Today, leaving the mountains behind, our way takes us from Tengboche to Namce Bazzar. Overnight at guesthouse.
  • Day 14 : Trek from Namche Bazzar to Lukla
    This day walk of five hours takes us to Lukla where the trek was started. This day exploring and staying last night at Khumbu Region or Everest region. Stay overnight at Hotel.
  • Day 15 : Flight from Lukla to Kathmandu
    We will fly direct to Kathmandu. If weather is terrible we have to stay this day and wait for next days.
  • Day 16 : Final Departure
    Our representative will Drop you at International airport Kathmandu for your next destination.
