Kharta Valley Trek is very much rewarding trek through miles of steep valleys, high passes and fantastic glacial lakes. Some of the best spectacular Himalayan scenery anywhere on earth once can be seen along the trek. Snow-covered mountain peaks will be coupled with outstanding flowering valleys in the warmer seasons. The trail passes through the remote Kangshung valley, often referred as the valley of flower. Lingam La at a height of 5320 meters is the highest point, from this point on a clear weather outstanding beauty lies in the eyes. Most of the famous peaks of Nepal one can be visible from the south. This trip surely explores the remoteness of Tibet, ancient culture, snow-capped mountains and the various grasses and thick vegetation.

Detailed Itinerary

  • Day 1 : Arrival in Kathmandu
    Arrive at Kathmandu airport. Our representative will assist you at the international airport and escort to the booked hotel. A short walk around local town as well as 16th century palace can be encountered in the middle of Kathmandu city. Welcome dinner and sweet sleep at the hotel.
  • Day 2 : Drive to Kodari-Zhangmu-Nyamlam
    Today, we gathered in the early morning and drive through gorgeous Nepalese countryside for nearly 123 km. Upon arriving at Kodari, our guide will complete all the documentation and visa procedures, and further we continue driving to Nyalam. On the way to Nyalam we drive through numerous passes and valley.
  • Day 3 : Acclimatization day at Nyamlam
    Today, we spent resting and acclimatizing before trekking in high altitude. At the day time warm up walk will be done and visit the Mailarepa Cave.
  • Day 4 : Drive to Khatra
    Our day starts with an amzing drive to Lalung La. The whole North side of the Himalayan range can be seen from here on a visible weather. Gradually, our drive continues across the Tibetan Plateau, through a series of ancient Tibetan villages. After reaching the Tingri Plains Cho Oyu and Mt. Everest come into view for the first sight. Along the way we will take a short break on the Pang-la pass, where we explore the mesmerizing view of Mt Everest and more stunning views of surrounding countryside. We descend driving from the passes through the village of Phadhruchi and finally meet destination of Kharta.
  • Day 5 : Exploration Day in Kharta
    Today, we rest for proper acclimatization before starting our trek. Warm up walk and exploring around Kharta will be best option for next day’s trek.
  • Day 6 : Trek from Kharta to Lundrubling
    Finally, we begin our adventurous trekking trail in the Tibet along the banks of the Kharta River. The most beautiful and well defined way provides us with views of widespread barley fields below. After a few kilometers the trail splits. We will follow the upper trail which leads to the Shao La. The challenge of the hike will all be worth it in the end as you are surrounded by wondrous views of valleys below and snow capped peaks to the east. After arriving at Lundrubling our crew members will install the camp. Overnight stay at tented camp.
  • Day 7 : Trek from Lundrubling to Kaamo Tsangpo Valley
    After hiking up to Shao La Pass, view of Everest appears closer to our eyes. Several settlements of Tibetan life, scenery of Yak pastures and meandering valleys can be observed along the way. We pass our trail through impressice birch groves and dwarf rhododendrons. We install camp at Kaamo Tsangpo. Overnight stay at tented camp.
  • Day 8 : Trek from Kaamo Tsangpo to Khangsung Valley
    Today, we ascend our trail through a wonderful conifer forest ridge line. Our trek will once again reward with views stretching all the way to Nepal. The trek will end with clear views of the Khangsung face of Mt Everest. Overnight sleep at tented camp.
  • Day 9 : Trek from Khangsung Valley to Pethang Ringmo
    Today is an easy and relaxing day with less trekking. It offers a great chance to truly appreciate and soak in the beauty which surrounds us. The quietness of this area is truly amazing. Overnight stay at tented camp.
  • Day 10 : Trek from Pethang Ringmo to Hoppo
    Today, before entering back onto the comfortable shepherd trails we will pass through meadows and steep slopes. The trekking gets much easier along the shepherd trail as we are led up another hillside. Once we can taste the amazing views of Everest and the glaciers of Chomo Lonzon. Overnight stay at tented camp.
  • Day 11 : Trek to Khangsung Base Camp and back to Hoppo
    Today, we trek for khangsung base camp which is rare opportunity and answer can be found why few climbers have stepped this feat. The glorious moment and surrounds will pleased after hard trek. Finally spending an hour’s we back to Hoopo camp.
  • Day 12 : Trek from Hoppo to Langma La
    Today, our trail first descends to another valley and then diverts north to Langma La. One after another steps, we pas through a string of Yak pasture on the way to pass. Rare view of Mt Makalu can be encounter during the trip. Overnight sleep at tented camp.
  • Day 13 : Cross Langma La to Lundrubling
    Today, day will begin with challenging ascent and descent of the Langma La pass. While en route to the confluence of the Kharta valley we pass via other string Yak herders camps. This day also glimpse of mountain will be encountered along the way. Overnight sleep at tented camp at Lundrubling.
  • Day 14 : Trek from Lundrubling to Kharta
    Finally, today we are going to end up our trek after reaching Kharta.
  • Day 15 : Drive to Rongbuk
    Today, we drive to Rongbuk and pass through the village of Phadhruchi. Tonight we install the camp near Rongbuk Monastery, only 15 kilometers from the Everest Base Camp. We will explore the monastery and impressive scenic beauty of Everest.
  • Day 16 : Explore Everest Base Camp and drive to Lhastse
    Today, trekkers are given the rare opportunity of seeing both the views of Everest and the start of the ascent for many. After exploration around Everest base camp our drive leads to Lhastse.
  • Day 17 : Drive to Gyantse
    Monasteries and nomadic herds are passed along the friendship highway. Tonight we spent in a classic hotel.
  • Day 18 : Sightseeing in Gyanste and Drive to Lhasa
    Today, in the morning we visit the Gyantse Kumbum and the Pelkore Chode Monastery. The Kumbum, more than a simple stupa, is surrounded by many chapels and wondrous Tibetan murals. On the way to the Yamdrok Tso or Turquoise Lake we will ascend the Karo La pass. The impressive turquoise lake is still largely undeveloped. However, this may end soon. Our day is completed with an ascent of the Khamba La and crossing of the Yarlong Tsangpo River. It is such a relief to finally enter the wondrous city of Lhasa.
  • Day 19 : Excursion around Lhasa
    These days you will be engrossed with sightseeing and excursions of the Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, Barkhor Market. There are many wonderful things to see and do around Lhasa, which help, tell the story of Tibet's unique past and the intertwining of religion with history. Most of the holy temples retain magic and mysticism and demonstrate the absolute faith in Tibetan Buddhism so integral to the character of the Tibetan people.
  • Day 20 : Exploration around Lhasa
    This day visiting the Drepung monastery, the largest monastery in Tibet. This 14th century monastery once housed more than 10,000 monks. After Lunch Norbulingka -the Sumer Palace of Dalia Lama will be visited. Sera Monastery as well as nunnery monastery also visited on this day. Overnight at hotel in Lhasa.
  • Day 21 : Fly to Kathmandu
    Drive to the Gongar airport (65 km / 1 hrs) from Lhasa. Fly to Kathmandu. Air China's 1 hr flight provides great views of Himalayan peaks including Mt. Kanchenjunga (8586 m), Mt. Makalu (8463 m), and Mt. Everest (8848 m). Overnight in Hotel in Kathmandu.
  • Day 22 : Final Departure
    Our representative will drop you in Kathmandu airport for your next destination. See you off... have a safe journey...!
