Nepal is a paradise for bird lovers with over 848 species (almost 10% of the world total) of birds. Among the total species almost 500 hundred species are found in the Kathmandu valley alone. A diverse topography and climate has resulted in a variety of habitats within the country, which are home to over 10% of the world’s total bird numbers. The surrounding hills offer a varied ecology ranging from primary and secondary forests to rhododendron, oak and pine forests. In addition, the wetlands and open fields inside the valley make up a diverse habitat for many species of birds. It is the home of some endangered birds like Impeuan, Pheasant and Spiny Babler the bird which is only found in Nepal. The most popular bird watching spots in Kathmandu are Phulchoki, Nagarjun, Godavari, Bagmati River, Taudaha and so on. These trips also offer amazing mountain views, glimpses of wildlife and exploration of local cultures and traditions.

Nepal’s landscape ranges dramatically that rise from 70 meters in the south to 8,848 meters in the north. It is a great ensemble of different climatic conditions and habitats that perplexes the few who have never geographically fathomed Nepal’s geography. This is home to a huge variety of mammals and birds, some of them, the rarest species on earth. We start our journey from Kathmandu and then onwards to Godavari, Chitwan, Koshi Tappu forest Reserve and Bardiya National Park. These are home to some of the world’s most endangered species of birds; a rare treat to an eye of winged beauties.

Detailed Itinerary

  • Day 1 : Arrive in Kathmandu Airport (1350 meter)
    Upon arrival at the international airport our representative will assist you and transfer to the Hotel through private vehicle. After refreshment you will have free time to explore the local street (for our assistance please let us knows). At late noon our representative will take you for a visit to the office for further formalities and take you for welcome dinner at Nepali Restaurant.
  • Day 2 : Kathmandu Valley Sightseeing
    This day, we visit few UNSECO heritage sites around Kathmandu and can taste the real cultural harmony. After breakfast we drive to SowyambhuNatht Stupa, which is known as Monkey temple located at the west of Kathmandu and able to see the good view of Kathmandu Valley. Drive to Baudhanath stupa. Boudhanath Stupa is one of the biggest and oldest in the world. This place is also known as a major settlement area of Tibetan refugee and can view several monasteries. Drive to Pashupatinath Temple, which is one of the most famous Hindus temples and it lies on the bank of religious river Bagmati. Major attraction of the site is, to catch the wonderful moment of Sadhus (Religious People) and the tragedy moment of Nepalese cremation. Drive to Kathmandu Durbar Square. Kathmandu Durbar Square was developed in period of 16th to 19th centuries, having wonderful architecture and pagoda style temples. Kathmandu Durbar Square represents the real history of Nepal and can explore the Museum, coronation area of our former king, Living Goddess (Kumari) and a few temples. After sightseeing we offer for a local tea and back to the hotel by walking, which takes 20 minutes to reach hotel.
  • Day 3 : Drive to Patan - Bird watching in the Godavari Botanical Garden
    After breakfast, we will drive to Patan Durbar Square and visit the most significant monuments such as Krisna Temple, Golden Temple, Patan Durbar and Historical Museum. After lunch, we head to the Godavari for bird watching program in Gidvari Botanical Garden. Overnight stay at Godvari.
  • Day 4 : Hike to Phulchoki Hill & drive back to Kathmandu
    After having breakfast, we hike up to Phulchoki Hill. Several wildlife, flora and fauna, birds can be seen along the way. If the weather is clear, exclusive view of Kathmandu Valley and Himalayan ranges can be explored from the top of the hill. After Hiking we descend back to Godvari and drive back to Kathmandu. Overnight at Hotel.
  • Day 5 : Birding in Nagarjun forest and Shivapuri Watershed and Wildlife Reserve
    Early in the morning we drive to the Nagarjun forest, then Shivapuri watershed with packed lunch. After all exploring these two places we back to the hotel. Overnight at Hotel.
  • Day 6 : Drive to Koshi Tappu (519km, 11hrs by drive)
    Today, we drive/fly to Koshi Tappu Wild life reserve via private vehicle or fly to the nearest airport. If you have boundary of time we suggest for flight. Koshi Tappu Wild life reserve lies on the flood plains of the Sapta Koshi in Saptari and Sunsari districts of eastern Nepal. The Reserve offers most important habitat for a several wildlife. A total of 423 species of birds are recorded here, including 20 of ducks, two of ibises, many strokes, egrets, jerons and the endangered swamp partridges and Bengal floricans. Visitors can view the 100 types of birds in a day.
  • Day 7 : Wildlife safari
    After breakfast, full day sightseeing on boat and four wheels drive to capture the views of waders, waterfalls, birds, wild water buffalo and Genetic Dolphin and visiting to the Pink Tower. Evening served with cultural program and dinner.
  • Day 8 : Drive to Chitwan
    Today, we drive to Chitwan for 9-10 hours, depends on road condition. Several local lives, beautiful landscapes, rivers can be seen along the way. Chitwan is the oldest and easy access from the Kathmandu and Pokhara. After arriving at Chitwan National Park, we check in Jungle resort inside of Park and walk for a few hours to view the treasure of the place. Chitwan National Park is the most famous national park in Nepal, which offers 450 species of birds including four species of deer, leopard, sloth bear, wild boar & much other wildlife. This park is well known for one horned Rhinoceros & it is a shelter for few royal Bengal Tigers. Overnight at Jungle Resort.
  • Day 9 : Wildlife Safari
    A wake up call in the early morning and provide bed tea or coffee. From 6:00 am Elephant ride and bird watching. Back to the Resort and Breakfast. After Breakfast canoe ride, Elephant briefing, swimming and bath. After Lunch Elephant ride, Nature walks and visits to observation tower. Late evening we will enjoy with Cultural program of Tharu and dinner.
  • Day 10 : Drive to Royal Bardia National Park
    Today, drive to Royal Bardiya National Park from Chitwan. Bardiya National Park, located in the mind-far western region thickly forested by Shore Robusta and 968 square km away from Kathmandu. An area of 327 square km covered by park and declared a buffer zone in 1997. Bardia National park provides the vital information of wildlife including reptiles and birds for researchers. The park is habitat for several wildlife, including blue bulls, deer, wild bears, the monkey, civets, hyenas, jackal, tiger, rhinoceros, wild elephant and many others. Rare and endangered reptile such as crocodile, gharial, snakes, and dolphin can be easily found in the area. It’s a stunning place that seems a very long way from the 21st century-watching the sunrise over the forest from the back of an elephant. It is believed that the largest male elephant in Asia is in this park.
  • Day 11 : Wildlife Safari
    Today, from the beginning of the day we will involve in various Jungle activities such as, elephant safari, nature walks, Jungle Drive, Bird watching, Hike up to Churia Hills to observe more birds. At evening cultural program and dinner will be served. Overnight at Resort.
  • Day 12 : Drive back to Kathmandu
    Today we back to Kathmandu via long drive. Overnight at Kathmandu hotel.
  • Day 13 : Free day in Kathmandu for shopping & other activities
    Today, you are free to do shopping around the market or you can rest whole day. It’s up to you how you want to pass the day. But if you wish to visit around and need our assistance we are always ready for it. In the evening, we are going to make this tour remarkable by knowing your experience about Nepal and dinner together at our own restaurant. Overnight stay at Hotel.
  • Day 14 : Departure
    Our representative will pick you up according to your flight schedule and drop you off at the international airport.
