Detailed Itinerary

  • Day 1 : Arrive at Paro
    Arrive at Paro airfield, our office representative will greet and drive to the booked hotel. At evening take a stroll around the town's main street. Overnight at the hotel in Paro.
  • Day 2 : Paro Sightseeing
    Hike (1.5 hrs) to the spectacular view of the Taktshang Monastery (Tiger's Nest), perched on a rocky edge over a 900 m. Experience unforgettable views of Mt. Jhomolhari. For the local people it is a place of pilgrimage, but for a tourist, a hike up to the viewpoint opposite the monastery can be exhausting, thrilling and mystical. The legend has it that Guru Rimpoche is had flown to the site of monastery on the back of tigress from Tibet and meditated in the cave there for three months. Visit the historic ruins of the Drukgyal Dzong, built in 1647. On the way of returning you will visit Monastery Kyichu Lhakhang and built in the 7th century by the first King of Tibet, Songtsen Gampo to spread the Buddhist Dharma throughout Bhutan . Overnight at Paro.
  • Day 3 : Paro to Wangduephodrang (77 km, 3 hours)
    Early in the morning drive to Wangduephodrang and later on sightseeing around Chimi Lhakhang. Chimi Lhakhang, situated on a hillock in the center of the valley, is dedicated to Lama Drukpa Kuenley, who in the late 15th century used humor, songs and outrageous behavior to dramatize his teachings and due to this also known as "Divine Madman". This temple is also known as the temple of fertility. It is widely believed that couples who do not have children and wanting one, if they pray at this temple, they are usually blessed with a child very soon. It is about 30 minute walk across field from the road to the temple. The trail leads across rice fields to the tiny settlement of Pana, meaning 'field'. It then follows a tiny stream downhill to Yoaka and across more fields before making a short climb to Chimi Lhakhang. Overnight at hotel.
  • Day 4 : Wangduephodrang to Bumthang (205 km, 7 hours)
    Early in the morning start journey to Bumthang. Bumthang is the general name given to combination of four valleys – Chumey, Choekhor, Tang and Ura with altitude varying from 2,600 m to 4,000 m. It is home to many prominent Buddhist temples and monasteries.Visit Tamshing Lhakhang, the treasure house of interesting religious Buddhist paintings. Then visit, Jakar Dzong, the administrative center of the valley. Afternoon visit Kurje Lhakhang, one of the most sacred places. Later visit Jambay Lhakhang, the ancient monastery dating from the introduction of Buddhism in the country. At evening visit local shops. Overnight at the lodge.
  • Day 5 : Bumthang (Excursion to Ura Valley)
    Bumthang to Ura is 48 km, about 1:30 mins drive. To reach here, the road climbs to amazingly open countryside, only occasionally running into the forest. Large sheep pastures line the road up to 20 km behind the southern tip of the Tang valley. The route crosses Ura la pass (3,600m) with stunning view of Mount. Gangkhar Puensum. Villages in Ura have clustered houses, which is quite unusual in Bhutan. Above Ura village (3,100m) is a new temple dedicated to Guru Rinpoche. Inaugurated in 1986, it contains a huge statue of the master and remarkable paintings of the cycle of his teachings. Since last 25 years Ura has been transformed from a marginal community to prosperous valley.
  • Day 6 : Bumthang to Wangduephodrang
    Drive back to Wangduephodrang. Overnight at lodge.
  • Day 7 : Day 07: Wangduephodrang to Paro
    Drive back to Paro. Overnight at hotel.
  • Day 8 : Final Departure
    Representative of our agency will drop you at the Paro airport for your next flight.
